...Cold was the Storm is the 2nd mission in San Andreas Connection.

After leaving Paleto Bay to meet the Mysterious Caller, Niko arrives in Los Santos via the Great Ocean Highway. The song that starts playing is Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Californication. Ironically, a storm starts just as Niko arrives in the city.

Still suspicious and weary of the phone call from yesterday, Niko is unsure of himself, as well as the reputability of the caller. Is it a trap? A real threat? Maybe it's a "prank call from those phone books" Niko thinks. No matter the reason, Niko continues on for the warehouse in East LS.

Niko arrives at the destination, and parks the Esperanto nearby. After standing outside the warehouse, a feeble, poorly-postured figure appears; wearing a checkered shirt, bright blue jeans, running shoes, and a "weird haircut", Niko thinks to himself.

"I know you've been....complaining, but you...weren't ready." The figure says.

"Who the fuck are you? You're dressed like ehhhhh one of those hillbillies from the old country." Niko replies.

"This, is the one for us!" The figure shouts, as if people are watching the conversation from afar.

Spark Operative surveying the meeting.

Armed individuals are seen hiding in the shadows, which may be what the figure is referring to.

"Okay, so....what are we doing here?" says Niko.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name's Lester Crest, and I've been keeping my eye on you, for a very, very long time. You see, after your big bank job in Liberty City, you've grown quite a reputation. Far more than, well, these people....anyway, in the "industry" you're known as "The Slav Bank Robber"", Lester laughs manicly.

Niko replies, "So, you've been keeping an eye on me...and my cousin? What reason, exactly? Because all I'm seeing bullshit."

Lester replies, somewhat sarcastically, "You see, I like my scores like I like my dates. Across the street, and unaware they're being watched."

"Haha. Very funny. Big joke." Niko replies, seriously.

"You didn't like that one? Hmm....well, anyway. Here's the deal - You're gonna give me what I want, and I'll give you what you want; protection from the big bad "guvnment" since you're so paranoid about that kind of thing. I've got several associates that could use a guy like you, and this other, uh, haven't met him yet. But he knows a lot about you as well, independently from me."

"Shit, well....since you put it that way, I'm in." Niko replies.

"Good, good, I knew I could count on you. Well, you've got my number now. Be careful though, the next update will auto-install micro payments to your phone. I'll be contacting you soon about a job opportunity, as well as my, One of them's away right now, the other one, well, I don't know, he probably went back to Rio or whatever hole he came from...the other, well, he's also away, I think he went East, might be able to reach him though. Anyway, we'll be in touch." says Lester.

The two walk in separate directions, and Niko gets back in his Esperanto. Thinking Los Santos isn't that bad, Niko decides to rent an apartment in Hawick for the time being. Adjusting to the city wasn't difficult, seeing as Niko's lived in Liberty City previously. However, Niko has trouble navigating Los Santos, exclaiming it's "full of shit drivers".

Niko arrives at his new apartment after a long day of getting used to the city, and calls Roman to let him know of the good news. Roman suggests to Niko to "stay with these guys, maybe we'll get that mansion in the Rockford Hills, and nice big titties!". Niko isn't as ecstatic, however agrees that "This new city ain't so bad after all. But, you know, new town, new set of problems."

Niko ends the call, and falls asleep, thus ending the mission.
